Chronicles of a Novice Writer: Documenting My Path to Becoming an Author

This blog post reflects the beginning of my journey to recount the experience of writing my book for the first time. Through this story, I hope to share every aspect of my journey as a novice writer, inspiring people who wish to take on their own creative endeavors, whether it's writing a book, learning a musical instrument, or any other passion in life. 

What is a story without the background? 

Everyone has a story to tell, and mine started with a sense of inadequacy. Throughout high school, I was never to be one of the brightest students in my class. This revelation spurred my drive to bridge the gap and achieve intellectual fulfillment. What better method to accomplish this than via the world of books? 

My introduction to reading began during my ninth-grade year, which was marked by personal challenges. With the disappointment of failing my first term hovering over me, and my older brother moving to live with our grandmother, I found myself in a state of devastating loneliness and self-doubt. Despite the sorrow, there was one bright spot—a friend who stood out from the crowd. 

This friend possessed an extraordinary blend of intelligence, kindness, and humility. She introduced me to the love of reading, converting it from a solitary hobby to a collaborative experience. Together, we would walk home, absorbed in the pages of amazing stories. Reading no longer seemed like a job with her direction and friendship, but rather a source of delight and knowledge. 

My love of reading grew exponentially after that key moment. Each book I read sparked a renewed passion within me. Throughout high school, I fell in love with the desire to learn by devoting myself to books with continuous commitment. As I entered my senior years, the thought of writing my own novel took root and grew into a persistent desire. 

With each chapter completed and sentence digested, the idea of being an author became more appealing. However, self-doubt loomed huge, casting shadows of uncertainty over my goals. I questioned my your worth, wondering if my writing skills were adequate for such a significant goal. Though I found refuge in journaling and poetry, the prospect of publishing a book remained mysteriously out of reach. 

However, as time passed, I experienced a metamorphosis. I gradually let go of self-doubt and accepted the idea of reaching my goals. I grew in both age and perspective, realizing that the only thing standing between me and my goals were my own limiting ideas. With fresh bravery and dedication, I set out on a path of self-discovery and creative expression—one that would eventually lead me to realize my long-held ambition of becoming an author. 

The Build Up 

In this category, I will delve into two major aspects, the first of which I have already outlined at the beginning of this blog. The second component is the examination of other literary works via reviews and personal thoughts. When reviewing novels, I will offer detailed descriptions, including potential spoilers, as well as analyze narrative twists and underlying themes. Furthermore, I will provide insights into the writers' writing approaches and styles, as well as any significant lessons learned from their work. 

This is my first step to becoming an author, and I am excited to immerse myself in the world of writing. What better way to do this than to painstakingly analyze the books I read? By taking extensive notes on my readings, I hope to not only expand my learning but also apply what I learn to my own creative activities. Finally, my purpose is to contribute to the communal pool of information and ideas while carving my own route through the wide terrain of literature.
